Police rescue man about to jump off Causeway Bay building

A 26-year-old man who attempted to jump off a building in Causeway Bay on Hong Kong Island was rescued by eight policemen on Saturday.

The man surnamed was found sitting on the side of a rooftop at 3pm with his feet dangling off the fifth floor of a building on 52 Yun Ping Road in Causeway Bay, Oriental Daily reported.

Pedestrians reported the case to police and two officers rushed to the scene. They found that Chan was emotional.

The man suddenly wanted to jump and a sergeant surnamed Yau sprinted towards him and grabbed Chan to stop him plummeting, Sing Pao reported. Meanwhile, a female officer surnamed Law immediately grabbed Yau's belt.

Six more officers arrived at the rooftop to help. while the rest held on to the police from behind.

After a 20-minute struggle, the officers finally pulled Chan to safety.

The man was said to have apologized to the police when he was sent to a hospital.

Three officers were reportedly injured during the rescue.
