(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) DOHA, Nov 26 (KUNA) -- The Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) on Sunday received the GSAS Gold Certificate for green buildings in the Operations category, offered by Qatar's Gulf Organization for Research and Development (GORD).
Chairman of the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) Essa Al-Kuwari and GORD chair Dr. Yousef Alhorr handed the certificate over to KNPC's former DCEO for Planning and Finance Shukri Al-Mahrous on the sidelines of the Sustainability Summit 2017 that started in Doha today.
Al-Mahrous voiced pride of the key ecological and technical certificate for the company's head office as the first one nationwide to receive to receive it. The award will be added to KNPC's copious record of achievements, he said.
The KNPC is posed to apply GORD's criteria seeking to win the organization's platinum certificate, Al-Mahrous who is the current CEO of the Kuwait Aviation Fuelling Company (KAFCO), noted.
For her part, head of KNPC's Research and Technology Department Suad Al-Radhwan expressed deep pleasure for the award that demonstrates the company's high interest in sustainability and green buildings.
She said that the head office, built in 2005, won the certificate after assessment that covered consumption of water and electricity and the inner environment, compared to similar ones.
The two-day Sustainability Summit 2017, organized by the GORD in cooperation with Qatar's Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, aims to establish a platform for practitioners, experts, regulators and researchers from national and international organizations to share knowledge and ideas, and exchange thoughts and experiences related to enhancement of climate actions and achieve a diversification to low-carbon economy.
