Kuwait- Turkish police arrest 16 suspected PKK members


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ANKARA, Nov 26 (KUNA) -- Turkish police have arrested 16 suspected Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) members in the southeastern town of Sirnak, official authorities said Sunday.

The arrests took place during simultaneous operations in several towns in Sirnak, a statement by the governor of the town said.

On a related development, office of the government of Diyarbakir said security forces seized 2.8 tons of explosives, ammunition and weapons during operations against PKK in the cities.

Turkish security authorities have been carrying out crack down campaigns against the PKK while the army is operating against the outlawed party in the east and southeast of Turkey. (end) rs.bs
