Israel continues to ignore UN peace treaty after 50 years of occupation

(MENAFN)Although the UN came up with a resolution on an Israeli removal from occupied territories, fifty years ago, and remained the reference for peace in the Middle East, it has never been executed.

Every country playing a rule in spreading peace in the Middle East agreed on the UN Security Council resolution 242, on November 22, 1967, five months after Israel attacked Arab lands occupying vast swathes of Arab territory.

Although the resolution delivers a negotiation to return the land in exchange for an end to aggression, it contained an indirect reference in its French and English texts that has instead further deteriorated relations.

Israel's army managed to strike out and occupy 70,000 square kilometers of Arab land in June of the same year.
