Amman Chamber of Industry exports decline by 4.8% in 10 months


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Nov.26 (Petra) -- Exports from the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) declined by 4.8 percent in the last ten months of 2017, compared to the same period of 2016.

According to statistic, the chamber's exports in the first ten months of this year stood at JD3.180 billion, compared to JD3.339 billion in the same period of the last year.

Exports of mining industries stood at JD738 million, chemical and cosmetics JD540 million, medical and pharmaceutical supplies JD 464 million, while food, agricultural and livestock reached JD 348 million, leather and knitwear industries JD334 million, electricity engineering and information technology JD 295 million.

The value of other exports which included the sectors of packing, packaging, paper, cartons and office supplies industries reached JD210 million, plastics and rubber JD136 million, construction JD 98 million, while wood and furniture industries JD18 million, .

Most of these exports went to India, with JD450 million, followed by the Saudi Arabia at JD420 million and the United States at JD390 million.

As for Iraq, exports dropped by 24 percent in the last 10 months of this year, standing at JD366 million compared to JD482 million in the same period of 2016.

The figures also revealed that exports in the same period of the current year to Syria increased by 195 %, standing at JD77 million compared to JD26 million in the same period of 2016.
