Birla Public School (BPS) wore a festive look and had a glitzy start of the three day annual celebrations of Founders' Day, in Abu Hamour. The festivities will culminate on December 2.

In a trendy departure from celebrations in the previous years, this year a variety of events took place in five different venues on the main campus to cater for disparate cultural taste buds to intellectual inclinations to amusements in games to gastronomical fulfilment.

In specially prepared school auditorium, Hemant Kumar Dwivedi, the first secretary at the embassy of India to Qatar and distinguished guest at the function, inaugurated a unique show where students displayed their exceptional talents in multiple areas.

The Guest of Honour, Dr Alan Michael Kirwan - Associate Director of learning and outreach, national museum of Qatar - inaugurated a series of cultural performances by students from kindergarten to grade 12.

In the third venue, Lukose K. Chacko, Board of Directors of Birla Public School cut the cake and launched twelve stalls where students, parents and community were allowed to try a variety of gastronomical delicacies drawn from across the width and breadth of India.

In ‘Funzania' zone, where visitors entered the arena of a variety of fun games, they indulged in ‘Fifa-17', ‘ring master', ‘tusker tail', ‘sun drop lollipop', ‘shooting cans', ‘lucky kick', ‘khushrang henna', ‘photo manic' and ‘fantasy zone'. They were readied for children and adults alike to lose themselves in fun and frolic.

Stalls were put up by students studying in various grades supported by their parents and teachers.

Yet another site of attraction for the intellectually inclined was the exhibition centre where students displayed their talents in innovative ideas in science, technology, computer science, trade, commerce and visual art.

One of the novelties was ‘Echo', a computer programme that put to use artificial intelligence developed by senior students that left parents agape in unbelief!

C.V.Rappai, former chairman of Birla Public School threw the exhibition venue open for the visitors.

There were ‘lucky dips' in search of winners who participated in games and food delicacies at the interval of about thirty minutes. Two way air tickets to India, shopping coupons, a television set were some of the prizes that parents and students gained.

A large number of parents, invitees, and guests, community members besides students and staff, numbering approximately seven thousand visited the events at the school. A P Sharma welcomed the gathering.
