OIC welcomes outcomes of Syrian opposition meeting
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) JEDDAH, Nov 26 (KUNA) -- The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Sunday lauded the results of the recent meeting of Syrian opposition groups in Riyadh.
OIC Secretary-General Yusuf bin A. Al-Othaimeen appreciated in a press statement the Saudi role in hosting the Syrian opposition meeting, which came up with a unified position.
Al-Othaimeen also hailed the formation of a single negotiating body as a good step that would lead to strengthening the opposition's negotiating position and fulfilling the expectations and hopes of the Syrian people.
Syrian opposition groups met in Riyadh on November 22-24 and agreed to form a united inclusive opposition delegation for UN-led intra-Syrian talks. (end) nh.mt
