Cosmetics company Pola apologizes for racist poster


(MENAFN) A Japanese cosmetic company has apologized for a sign banning Chinese people from entry, posted in one of its outlets, displaying persistent resentment to foreign visitors.

Pola has admitted that pictures of an "inappropriate" poster were posted on Chinese social media sites on Friday, without determining the contents or location of the them.

Images of a handwritten in Japanese saying "Entry by Chinese people prohibited" in a shop window were getting popular on Chinese and Taiwanese social media on Sunday.

Pola has apologized for creating "unpleasant feelings and inconvenience to many people" and said it had taken the sign off.

It also stated: "As soon as we confirm the facts, we will suspend operations at the store and implement strict punishment."
