Qatar- Ashghal advises people not to remove lids of drainage holes

As a member of the Joint Rainfall Emergency Committee which is in charge of handling emergencies during rains, the Public Works Authority 'Ashghal has advised people not to remove lids of drainage holes during rains and be careful while driving in subways and bridges. This came among the awareness campaign conducted by Ashghal to raise awareness about some precautionary measures during rainfall.

Also the vehicles during rainfall have to be driven only on designated places and to follow diversions and limit speed during rainfall.

During the last five years, the rainfall rate has increased and this is the rainy season so people have to take some precautionary measures. They have to be sure that there is no blockage or leak in the drainage of water, and should check the safety of glass roofs, Ashghal said on its official Facebook account.

From the beginning to the third quarter of this year, Ashghal has cleaned and done maintenance of 82,000 drainage holes for fast drainage of water. It also found engineering solutions to many places which are low laying and gather rainwater.

Among other advises that Ashghal has mentioned is that people have to be sure of the safety of glass roofs and the safety of windows. Ashghal is member of the Joint Rainfall Emergency Committee which was formed by the ministerial decision number 245 by the Minister of Municipality and Environment and it is comprised of 14 members among them three members from the Public Works Authority, Ashghal, the Ministry of Interior and Lekhwiya each.

The job of the committee is to formulate a strategy plan and to find solution for fast drainage of rainwater especially in the places usually see water.
