Lebanon lauds Kuwait's support to development projects

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BEIRUT, Nov 25 (KUNA) -- Director General of the Ministry of Education in Lebanon Fadi Yarak has commended Kuwait's support to developmental, cultural and educational and projects in many world countries.

Yarak on Saturday represented Minister of Education Marwan Hamadeh at the opening ceremony of Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah state school and its sports hall.

The ceremony, attended by representative of the Kuwaiti embassy in Beirut Consul Fawaz Al-Qahtani, was part of the celebrations of Lebanon's Independence Day.

Opening the school named after Kuwait's late Amir on the occasion of the Independence Day demonstrates deep love to Kuwait and its people, as well as reflecting appreciation to the country's help to the Lebanese students to proceed with their education, Yarak told KUNA.

Through curricula and summer activities, the ministry seeks to reinforce the values of a "one Lebanon," he told the ceremony.

Consul Al-Qahtani told KUNA that participating in the ceremony was part of the efforts to enhance the already deep-rooted bilateral ties.

Kuwait is eager to contribute to developing and consolidating ties with Lebanon in all fields, mainly economic, developmental and humanitarian, he added.

School Principal Ghada Azaar highlighted Kuwait's support to education in Lebanon.

She said that they are keen that officials from the Kuwaiti embassy take part in the school's activities.

The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) had provided funding for building a number of education facilities in Lebanon.

Over the past years, Lebanon named several schools after Kuwaiti leaders, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, as well as Late Amirs Sheikh Sabah Al-Salim Al-Sabah, Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salim Al-Sabah, and Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
