(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, Nov 25 (KUNA) -- The death toll of the attack that targeted Al-Rawdah mosque in Bir al-Abed, west of Arish city in North Sinai, Egypt on Friday, rose to 305, including 27 children, and 128 others wounded, Egyptian public prosecution announced Saturday.
A group of "extremists", aged between 25 and 30, shot randomly at worshipers from the mosques' front door and 12 surround windows, public prosecution said in a statement.
"The terrorists, who drove five 4x4 vehicles and carried the flag of the so-called Islamic State (IS), fired their machine guns at the start of Friday prayer sermon, and also sat the parked cars outside the mosque on fire," it added.
Meanwhile, the public prosecution sent a team to two hospitals in Ismailia governorate to collect testimonies from the wounded, the statement said, adding that the team will later survey the mosque and what is left of corpses.
Moreover, top prosecutor Nabil Sadek ordered security bodies to speed up investigations and arrest perpetrators of the attack to file legal actions against them immediately, added the statement. (end) rg.ma
