Kuwait- Saudi FM hails Syrian opposition agreement


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RIYADH, Nov 25 (KUNA) -- Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Adel Ahmed Al-Jubeir affirmed on Saturday that the Kingdom has always supported and will support the Syrians and wished them success in achieving their goals and hopes.

In a press release quoted by Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the minister made his remarks after the conclusion of the Syrian opposition talks.

Al-Jubeir congratulated the Syrians on this great achievement as they managed to unite the Syrian opposition with all its components and bases and formed a sole negotiating team that represents everyone in all negotiations.

The minister also hailed their agreement, describing that as a great achievement.

For his part, the head of the delegation of the Syrian opposition, Dr. Nasr Hariri, stressed their efforts to achieve the political transition stipulated in international resolutions and references, first and foremost the Geneva Declaration 1 and international resolutions 2218 and 2254.

Dr. Hariri said, in a press conference that the final statement talked in detail about the objectives of the political process aimed at achieving the political transition through the establishment of a transitional governing body with full executive powers.

He also expressed great thanks to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as King, Government and people for all that it has provided and provide in the service of the Syrian people and its cause in order to achieve its objectives.

He thanked in particular Al-Jubeir for his diligent and serious attempts to reach the required consensus. (end) mdm.mb
