30 percent growth recorded by GCC construction sector in 2017

(MENAFN) A growth of 30 percent has been posted by the GCC construction sector in 2017 as it showed a relative resilience in its performance, according to a recent study by Mena Research Partners, a leading research company in the region.

The regional construction market presents sufficient depth and opportunities for investors and regional market participants over the years to come with total GCC active projects at around USD2.6 trillion - equivalent to 160 percent of GDP, it stated.

The region witnessed USD130 billion of completed projects during 2017 compared to USD100 billion last year in spite of the recent years' headwinds that extended from oil price slump to budget adjustments in many GCC countries.
