(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR, 25 November: The Pakistan Army has said it fully supports merger of FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and will not cause any hindrance in this regard.
Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor said this in a meeting with representative of FATA Youth Jirga on Friday. According to a statement of the ISPR, the Youth Jirga having representatives of all the tribal agencies said the FATA people have offered many sacrifices for the country. The Youth Jirga executive member Ameer Afridi said the Army fully supports merger of FATA with KP. He said the Army wants all facilities for FATA people which are enjoyed by people in rest of the country. He said the DG ISPR said the top most priority of the Army is to bring durable peace in FATA. He said peace has been restored in about 90 percent areas of FATA.
Mr Afridi said the Army is also carrying out a number of development projects in FATA which include hospitals, schools, cadet colleges, water supply and solar energy schemes.
The DG ISPR appreciated the efforts of the Youth Jirga and sacrifices of the FATA people for the country. The FATA Youth Jirga had also met Corps Commander Peshawar Lt Gen Nazir Butt the other day.
