In March of that year, Erwiana filed a civil lawsuit seeking HK$810,000 (US$103,724) in damages.

However, Erwiana discovered that Law had transferred her 50% share in the ownership of an apartment in Beverly Garden, in Tseung Kwan O – the property where Erwiana was abused – to her Barry Tsui Yun-bun days before being sentenced.

As reported by Sing Pao, Law insisted in court on Thursday that the flat did not belong to her as she had not made any monetary contributions. She said that Tsui made it clear on the day of purchase, in 1998, that Law was merely holding the property on behalf of their children.

According to its latest valuation, in November, the flat is worth HK$7.65 million.

Erwiana's lawyer rebutted Law's claims.

Law was found guilty on February 10, 2015, and sentenced on February 17. However, after the guilty verdict she signed a "deed of separation' stating that she would transfer her share of the flat to her husband. The transfer application was made to the city's Housing Authority the day after her sentencing. Apple Daily observed that the motive behind Law's action was obvious.

The case was adjourned.
