Kuwait- EU seeks to boost partnership with six E. European countries

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BRUSSELS, Nov 23 (KUNA) -- EU leaders will meet tomorrow Friday in Brussels with their six Eastern partners: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.

The summit will discuss how to further strengthen cooperation in four priority areas, stronger economy, stronger governance, stronger connectivity (in the areas of transport and energy) and stronger society (increasing mobility and contacts between people), said an EU statement.

The 5th Eastern Partnership summit will be a key moment for the leaders to reflect on a number of significant achievements that have been accomplished since the last Eastern Partnership Summit in Riga in May 2015, it noted.

Association Agreements including Comprehensive Free Trade Areas have entered into force between the EU and Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, and citizens of Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine can now travel without a visa to the Schengen area for short-stays.

A number of bilateral agreements are also expected to be taken forward in the margins of tomorrow's Summit. (ebd) nk.mt
