Oman- MoH signs contracts worth over RO270m for hospitals in Salalah, Khasab and Suwaiq


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Ministry of Health (MoH) has signed contracts for three hospitals in the sultanate with an investment of over RO270mn.

A new Sultan Qaboos Hospital project with a capacity of 620-bedded will be built in Salalah, while 260 and 150-bedded hospitals will come up in Suwaiq and Khasab respectively.

H E Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed Obaid al Saeedi, Minister of Health, signed agreements with Carillion Alawi for Sultan Qaboos Hospital and Khasab Hospital, while an agreement was signed between the ministry and International Hospitals Group (IHG) for Al Suwaiq Hospital project.

A number of dignitaries and undersecretaries, ministry officials and representatives from both companies, attended the signing ceremony last week.

The new Sultan Qaboos Hospital will be constructed on an area of more than 200,000sq m and comprise seven floors.

The hospital will include 16 inpatient sections for all specialisations as well as outpatient clinics, accidents and emergency units for adults and children, renal medicine unit, burns unit, fully-equipped radiology department, central laboratory, intensive care units for adults and children, special care baby unit (SCBU), rehabilitation unit, operation theatres, stroke unit, maternity wards, chemotherapy unit, private ward, medical training and learning centre, entertainment area and other support services.

The 260-bedded Al Suwaiq hospital will be a three-storey building constructed on area of more than 200,000sq m. The hospital will cater to one of the most populated wilayats in the country and include outpatient clinics, nephrology unit, day-care unit, intensive care units for adults and another for children, SCBU, burns and rehabilitation unit, cardiology intensive care unit, surgery department, internal medicine department, paediatric as well as maternity wards and operation theatres.

The Khasab hospital project will come up on an area of 100,000sq m over three floors and have 150 beds. It will include outpatient clinics as well as other highly specialised units.
