Kuwait- Ministry of commerce, trade confiscates six kg of faked golden crafts


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Nov 22 (KUNA) -- Ministry of Commerce and Industry confiscated six kilograms of faked golden crafts at the value of KD 80,000 (around USD 261,000) in various locations of Al-Mubarakeya and Al-Rai areas, and culprits were referred for prosecution.

The confiscated jewelry is of duplication of international brands and is stuffed with nonprecious substances in order to increase the weight of the gold goods, and the shops also sell them as being purely gold goods to make profits in illegal methods, the Ministry said in a statement.

The Ministry is intensifying the supervisory tours on gold markets to inspect the authenticity of the used scales in the shops, as well as the percentage of the added precious stones, and other commitments mentioned in the law, the statement added.

The Ministry will not hesitate to apply the mentioned sanctions against the violators in order to protect the consumers from any kind of cheating, it added.

The Ministry is also supervising precious metals crafts and precious stones wither those exposed in markets or produced in factories of those inside the country or coming from abroad. (end) asj.tb.lb
