Zimbabwe breakthrough: Mugabe resigns, concluding his reign


(MENAFN) Robert Mugabe who reigned over Zimbabwe for 37 years has resigned as president after once insisting that "only God" can remove him. His resignation rejoiced Jubilant Zimbabweans that they spent the night celebrating.

Within hours, ex-Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa will possibly replace Mugabe as the new president after his expected return.

The speaker of parliament had read from a letter the revelation of Mugabe's resignation, leaving the country overwhelmed with joy.
