The parents of the members of Best Buddies Qatar attended a forum to raise awareness and discuss on social challenges and motivation for people with disabilities, psychological problems which people with disabilities face; health guidance for families of people with disabilities and strategies to develop and support their families economically.
The experts in the field of disabilities from Hamad Medical Corporation and Qatar University attended the forum 'The Family is The First to raise awareness about the rights and inquiries of people with disabilities; matters in dealing with social, economic, physiological, and health concerns of the children with disabilities; support and guidance related to their individual problems;
The debate highlighted the importance of social institutions and associated authorities to provide support, guidance and assistance services to families in order to provide their children with disabilities all rights of the effective members in the community.
Laalei Abu Alfain, Executive Director of Best Buddies Qatar, expressed gratitude to all attendees, experts and parents, for the intention to discuss the problematics in the field of children disabilities within their families.
Laalei added that, 'Best Buddies Qatar is a non-profitable governmental organisation under the umbrella of Qatar Foundation for Social Work which aims to enhance life of people with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities through one-to-one long lasting meaningful friendships and their social integration. Besides, the organization intents to serve as a link among families and other social institutions to update them with the latest development and best practice in the field of disabilities.
