Saudi Arabia under heavy rain, suspends schools

(MENAFN)Saudi authorities have been forced to close schools and universities in some parts of the country, after out-flowing rain lashed parts of the kingdom.

The directorate in the Makkah region announced on Twitter the suspension of classes in order to protect students' safety.

Civil Defense urged people to avoid areas prone to flooding, and to avoid going near rivers, while residents could not resist the enthusiasm to go onto the streets and witness the heavy rain.

Education officials in Taif and Jeddah also announced that suspension of all schools, state news agency Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
