Kazakhstan launches export of electric locomotives

Kazakhstan for the first time exported locomotives (including the electric ones) to Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Ukraine, said Kazakh Minister for Investment and Development Zhenis Kasymbek.

Kasymbek made the remarks while addressing a governmental meeting. Moreover, he said that cars assembled in Kazakhstan are exported to Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and China.

"Work is underway to promote passenger cars, rails and products of the military-industrial complex of Kazakhstan production for export. The supplies of transformers of domestic production grew by 60 percent. The volume of exports is $21 million. The recently launched Ural Transformer Plant exports 96 percent of its production abroad, "the minister explained.

There is also a tendency to increase the export of batteries to 1.2 million units or almost $ 35 million. Batteries are exported to the Middle East, the Caucasus and Belarus.

He noted that today Kazakhstan ranks 52nd among the biggest exporting countries.

"In total, we export over 800 manufacturing products to 113 countries. We are world leaders in the supply of uranium, copper, titanium, ferroalloys, yellow phosphorus, flour, cottonseed oil, wheat, flax seeds. Over the past 5 years, the quality structure of exports has improved significantly," he said.

He said that the results of 9 months of 2017 show that the export of processed goods grew by 22 percent and amounted to $11.1 billion.
