The Ministry of Interior has invited visitors who have entered Qatar by the tourist visa on arrival through Hamad International Airport and wish to extend it for a further period of 30 days to do that electronically via the ministry's website (moi.gov.qa), and not through the airport passport department.
Director of Airport Passports Department, Col. Muhammad Rashid Al Mazroui, said the department adopted electronic technology in all transactions related to public visas, including the free tourist visa on arrival, which consists of 47 countries whose nationals are eligible for a waiver that is valid for 30 days from the date of issuance. The visa holder can apply for a renewal of the waiver for an additional 30 days in Qatar.
Al Mazroui added that those who wish to extend for another 30 days must complete the procedures through the Ministry of Interior's website for free, noting that in case of failure to complete the extension procedure, the visitor will be charged a fine of QR200 for each day of delay.
He pointed out that processing the extension procedures was previously done through the passport control at the airport but now, after the adoption of electronic transactions, the extension is done through the website of the ministry.
