Ismail Kahraman reelected as Turkish parliament speaker

Ismail Kahraman, who garnered 289 votes of MPs, has been reelected as Speaker of the Turkish parliament, the Turkish media report Nov. 20.
Ismail Kahraman and Tamer Dagli were candidates from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in today's elections for the parliament's speaker. The Republican People's Party (CHP) nominated Zekeriya Temizel, People's Democratic Party (HDP) – Selma Irmak, Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) – Celal Adana as their candidates.
Non-party MP Yusuf Halacoglu, who previously headed the Turkish Historical Society, also ran for the parliament's speaker.
