(MENAFN- KNN India) NSE's SME platform to hit century, reach 100th mark

New Delhi, Nov 20 (KNN) NSE's small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) platform would list its 100th SME tomorrow and 50 companies would get listed in the next six months, said Vikram Limaye, NSE Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer in a press interview.

There are 99 companies listed on the NSE's SME platform with an aggregate market capitalization of over Rs 7,600 crore whereas rival BSE's SME platform has more than 200 companies listed.

NSE CEO said that the exchange had already granted approval to around 10-15 firms, from various sectors including manufacturing, textiles, finance, media and entertainment, real estate, infrastructure, agriculture, food and processing, and IT which would make their debut on the platform in next 1-2 months.

He also said that the SME capital market has been witnessing participation from a wider class of investors.

The sme platform provides immense opportunity for investors to identify and invest in good SMEs at an early stage and over the last two months, SMEs have given an impressive return of 36 per cent to investors.

He also said that the SMEs has been playing important role in growth and employment generation in India and to track the performance of SMEs, NSE would launch an SME index. (KNN/AG)
