(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat Storm extended its unbeaten run in the new season when it played out a 1-1 draw against PDO at the British School Muscat (BSM) ground recently.
Storm had to work extremely hard to keep its unbeaten run as PDO provided a tough test.
PDO came with a large squad, and although it made many changes throughout the game it blended well, and stretched Storm on many occasions.
The first half started well for the home team. It kept ball possession and created a number of half chances in the first 15 minutes. PDO defended well but in the 14th minute Joe Bunn released Yasser al Soufi who cut the ball back to Lee Ebbutt who darted into the box only to be brought down by a late tackle.
The referee pointed to the spot, and Dominique Gauci stepped up to slam the ball home to put the home team into the lead.
PDO reacted quickly and took control. The home side had to thank goalkeeper Wagif for two great saves to keep the visitors at bay. As the halftime approached a quick throw caught Storm out and an early cross was headed home to send both teams in equal at the break.
The second half followed very much the format of the first with PDO continuing to grow in confidence. and Storm having do defend for the majority of the half.
As legs began to tire for both teams in the final ten minutes the game opened up, and Storm's KG Mangoegape could have scored as his powerful volley was well saved by the PDO keeper. PDO was unlucky not to win the game in the final minutes too as it had two shots that hit the woodwork.
Storm manager Ebbutt said later said, 'It was not our best performance but sometimes you have to play ugly to get a result, and tonight was a good example of that. PDO was excellent tonight as it moved the ball well, but we managed to defend well and extend our unbeaten run, which is important for our confidence.'
