Qatar- DICID holds debate for Indian schools

As part of its diverse and continuous initiatives to implant and promote the culture of interfaith dialogue among students, Doha International Centre for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID) organised interschool debate completion on interfaith values for Indian schools in Qatar. The debate competition was held as part of 22nd edition of interschool competitions organised by Youth Forum on the topic 'Does Religious Propagation Promote or Harm Peaceful Coexistence?.
Six teams representing different prominent Indian schools in Qatar participated in the competition. Birla Public School, MES Indian School and Shanthinikethan Indian School won the first, second and third positions, respectively. Laura Ramirez, Education Support Specialist at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar was the moderator of the competition.
DICID organises such competitions with intention to spread the significance of religious values and to promote creative interfaith dialogues and reciprocal respects at the early stage of growing generations belonging to different cultures and religions such a way that result in establishing an attitude of coexistence and tolerance within them.
Dr Mohammed Ali Al Ghamidi, Member of Board of Director, Doha International Centre for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID), inaugurated the program and he gave away the trophies and certificates to the winners. During his inaugural speech, Dr Mohammed congratulated the winners and highlighted the importance of developing the culture of healthy dialogues among the students belong to various cultural and religious background promoting mutual respect and creative relationships.
Since DICID started its activities, DICID has been cooperating and supporting local expatriate communities in Qatar to hold their interfaith dialogue contained cultural, social and technical activities that reinforce interrelationships among these communities. As well DICID has been remarkably organising many dialogue initiatives and seminars for expatiates in Qatar in association with different communities as these communities play a significant role in promoting culture of peaceful coexistence and acceptance of others among them, and with Qatar Society on the other hand.
