Union Minister Jitendra Singh has said that the Centre has taken note of the reports about global terror outfit ISIS claiming an attack in the Kashmir Valley.

Three terrorists driving a car opened fire on a Police team at Zakura crossing on the Srinagar-Ganderbal road.

The attack left Sub-Inspector Imran Tak dead, and injured another special police officer.


Singh's statement on ISIS' claims

"The government has taken cognisance of inputs [about ISIS' claim] and the concerned agencies, the ministry of home affairs and the security agencies are taking an appropriate view and will adopt future course of action accordingly," Singh told Daily News and Analysis (DNA).

Retaliatory action by security forces in the Zakura crossing encounter left a wanted local terrorist dead. The terrorist's body was wrapped in an ISIS flag during the funeral.

Six Pakistani terrorists were also killed in the Bandipora district, including the nephew of Mumbai attack mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi.

Singh said that the efficacy of security forces was influenced by the "decisive" Modi government.

Singh's comments on the state of militancy in Kashmir

The Union minister said that militancy in Kashmir is in its "last phase" - life expectancies of militant commanders have come down to 10-15 weeks as opposed to years earlier.

Singh also lauded the local police and its special operations group for their counter-insurgency work.

He added that Pakistan's role in fomenting terror is globally recognized now. Yet, Pakistan remains in denial.

"But what has changed now in the past few months is that countries which were hesitant to accept India's viewpoint for reasons of their own, are now constrained to accept India's viewpoint as far as terror and perpetration of terrorism from Pakistan...is concerned," said Singh.
