Oman- OAMC invites public to join new Muscat airport trials

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Oman Airports Management Company (OAMC) has launched 'Join The Trials' campaign inviting people to take part in the final operational readiness preparations of the new Muscat International Airport.

The campaign expects over 17,000 people in Oman to explore the new airport and participate in the customer experience trials.

The trials have entered the last phase after successful completion of a series of internal technical, logistical and airport management operations among the internal stakeholders.

The campaign aims at reviewing and assessing real time experience of customers and operations in line with requirements. Saud bin Nasser bin Said al Hubaishi, GM of Readiness, OAMC, said, 'Today, the new Muscat International Airport development is the largest project ever undertaken in the history of Oman. We are excited to be part of the journey and introduce the public to what we believe will be the gateway to opportunity.'

Key stakeholders supporting the public road show and advance trials include the Ministry of Transport and Communications for investing and managing the infrastructure development project, the Public Authority for Civil Aviation for developing a safe vibrant air hub, the ROP for maintaining airport security and Oman Air for making Muscat airport their international hub.

The involvement of the public will provide live assessment opportunity for the trials team. 'Our mission, together with the support of the public, is to bring the best airport experience to life, to make it memorable for locals and expats alike. The trials are part of the vision 'to be among the top 20 airports in the world by 2020',' said Pablo Lorenz, trials manager, OAMC.

The trials also intend to test all systems and facilities, procedures and personnel under real operational conditions which allow for a comprehensive analysis and mitigation of potential problems well in advance of the opening day.

Once fully operational the new Muscat airport will have a capacity to handle 20mn passengers annually. Hubaishi added, 'Readiness operations are conducted to ensure safe, smooth, trouble-free start of operations for your aviation facility or infrastructure project from day one - ensuring a smooth passenger and customer experience.

'The trials system helps to integrate all airport stakeholders including handling agents, airlines, government authorities and agencies, service providers and vendors in the preparation and airport readiness process. This will also support the airport management and its stakeholders with the ability to establish new quality standards and parameters for operations and facility management.'
