Qatar backs global efforts to achieve objectives

The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs H E Dr. Ahmed bin Hassan Al-Hammadi said that the messages emanating from the high-level meeting to prepare for the Economic and Social Council Forum on Follow-up to Financing for Development 2018, hosted by Doha for two days, will be a new platform for the success of the efforts to implement the 2030 Sustainable Development Plan and the renewal by States of their political will to mobilize resources nationally and internationally to ensure the participation of all States in the implementation of these goals.
Speaking at closing session of the meeting, HE the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that the continued support of the State of Qatar to the international efforts to achieve the objectives of the international community is based on its foreign policy of serious and sincere participation in support of the goals of the United Nations in all aspects.
HE Dr. Al Hammadi said: 'Doha is proud to be associated with many international and regional conferences and declarations , as it has always opened its doors and the hearts of its people to be a platform for love, peace and communication with the world. Today's meeting in Doha is to complete a long process of decades, in which the State of Qatar stressed its keenness and adherence to international cooperation to meet the current and emerging challenges, he added.
He noted that, as the follow-up conference on the implementation of the Monterrey Consensus held in Doha in 2008 had produced results, the Doha Messages announced at the closing session of the meeting would be an important milestone as conclusions reflecting what had been achieved in this regard.
H E Dr. Al Hammadi said that the choice of Doha to hold this high-level meeting and the high level of participation also reaffirms the confidence of the State of Qatar in strengthening international cooperation. He stressed that the State of Qatar will continue this process without taking into consideration the attempts and pressures.. It will also increase its determination to implement its commitments that the wise leadership is keen to implement and support the efforts of the United Nations in all fields.
The closing session of the high-level meeting to prepare for the Economic and Social Council Forum on Follow-up to Financing for Development in 2018 witnessed the declaration of 10 messages reached through the two-day panel discussions and round tables.
On the first day of the meeting, two round tables were held on the issue of exchanging experiences of countries in financing resources from public, local and international sources for the implementation of the Addis Ababa Plan of Action and the 2030 Sustainable Development Plan for Political and Institutional Innovations. A session was also held on 'Means to implement the sustainable development goals selected for the in-depth review at the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, another session on ways to implement these goals and a key session entitled 'Innovative tools for financing sustainable development The first is entitled 'Overcoming challenges to attract resources of Sovereign Funds in Investment for Sustainable Development Goals 'and The Role of Development Finance Institutions in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals - The Case of Islamic Finance .
