Palestinians reject US decision to close PLO office in Washington

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RAMALLAH, Nov 19 (KUNA) -- The Palestinians on Sunday slammed as unprecedented a US decision to shut down the Palestine Liberation Organization's office in Washington.

"The decision will encourage further anti-Palestinian practices carried out by the Israeli government," read a statement issued by the Palestinian Cabinet after an urgent session presided over by Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah.

It also urged the US government to rescind the decision that could undermine the entire peace process and pile up pressure on Israel to cease its illegal settlements in the occupied territories.

Meanwhile, Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA) cited senior Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat as saying that the Palestinians have been notified that their office in Washington is pending closure. (end) nk.nam
