Sinn Fein leader to step down as leader next year


(MENAFN) The sixty-nine year old president of the party Sinn Fein, Gerry Adams has declared his intentions of giving up leadership as of next year.

He announced as well that he plans to skip standing for election to the Irish parliament (Dail) when the next election takes place.

In Dublin, Mr. Adams was delivering a speech at the Sinn Fein ard fheis (party conference) when he announced that it is to be his last as leader. He stated "leadership means knowing when it's time for change and that time is now."
