Over 400 volunteers undergo training for National Day celebrations

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The National Day Organising Committee is conducting a training programme for some 400 people involved in the organisation of the National Day celebrations at Darb Al Saai and the Doha Corniche in order to develop their skills and performance.
The programme is being held in collaboration with a number of training bodies and will continue until next month in the framework of ongoing preparations for the National Day celebrations on December 18 to commemorate the founder of the State, Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed bin Thani, according to a press statement.
The initiative seeks to 'enhance the value of National Day in the hearts of citizens and stress the importance of taking responsibility and improving skills on how to communicate with people during the National Day activities, the statement notes.
The National Day Organising Committee, in co-ordination with Ministry of Education and Higher Education, has adopted ‘voluntary hours' for students of secondary schools (first and second phase). The participants will get 24 training hours before starting the Darb Al Saai activities and 16 hours through their participation in such activities, the statement further explains.
The committee has asked a number of trainers and bodies, which have vast experience in imparting training, to conduct the training courses. The Ali Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah Arena and Al Markhyia Primary Independent School for Girls have been offered for this purpose. Aisha al-Mutawa, chairperson of the Training and Development Committee, said the training programme being held by the organising committee will contribute to building the abilities and sharpening the skills of trainees.
The programme aims to educate trainees on issues such as crowd control, confidence, responsibility, challenges and initiative, in addition to teaching how to deal under pressure. The trainees will also benefit from courses in first aid provided by the Hamad International Training Centre of HMC. When the attendees pass eight hours of training, they will receive international licences for practising first aid, which will be valid for two years.
The programme also include courses in crisis management and fire extinguishing, provided by the General Directorate of Civil Defence, and several other courses in different fields.
