Toto Riina, Mafia head from Corleone dies


(MENAFN)Toto Riina, known as "Boss of bosses" who has died at the age of 87, as the Italian media reported, is marked as one of the most vicious and feared Godfathers in the history of the Sicilian Mafia.

He was also nicknamed "The Beast" because of his brutality; and controlled the island's powerful organized crime group Cosa Nostra "The Maifa" in the 1970s for almost 20 years.

He is thought to be accused of killing over 150 persons, and has been serving 26 life sentences since 1993.

He was accused of the assassinations of anti-mafia judges Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino in 1992, who had worked courageously to bring more than 300 gangsters to trial in 1987.
