Lavrov expects Syria summit to reach settlement

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MOSCOW, Nov 17 (KUNA) -- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Friday the Russian-Iranian-Turkish summit due in Sochi on Wednesday would help in finding a political settlement to the Syrian crisis.

Lavrov told a news conference that he would meet with his Iranian and Turkish counterparts in Antalya in Turkey in order to make arrangements for the expected summit.

A trilateral meeting on Syria between Turkey, host Russia, and Iran will be held in the Black Sea city of Sochi on Wednesday, Turkish presidential sources said earlier on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Russian foreign minister accused Washington of being reluctant to investigate chemical weapon incidents in Syria.

He added that Washington's veto against a Russian draft resolution on the development of a relevant international investigation committee was an evidence of Washington's rejection of a fair probe in this regard. (end) as.mt
