An expert group of the European Investment Bank (EIB) will arrive in Uzbekistan next week to work out an action plan, Podrobno.uz reported citing EU Ambassador to Uzbekistan Eduards Stiprais.

"Next week, in fact, the EIB will start preparatory work to enter the Uzbek market with its favorable credit resources, which the state and business structures will be able to use for further development of the economy and entrepreneurship. This is an extremely important step, "the ambassador said.

Stiprais noted that the EIB mission may also get acquainted with some investment projects that will be submitted by the government.

In October 2017, the EIB and Uzbekistan signed a framework agreement in Washington. Now the bank can support public and private sector projects in such areas as public infrastructure, energy and energy efficiency, and small business development.

The agreement on signing the agreement was reached after the meeting of the EU-Uzbekistan Council in Brussels on July 17.

Uzbekistan became the fourth state in Central Asia, cooperating with the EIB. To date, the EIB has signed transactions amounting to about 710 million euros in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
