Azerbaijan's Seismic Survey Center head talks on Aghdam quake aftershocks

More than 150 aftershocks were recorded in Azerbaijan's Aghdam district after the Nov. 15 earthquake in the district, Gurban Yetirmishli, director of the Republican Seismic Survey Center (RSSC) of Azerbaijan's National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), told Trend Nov. 17.

He said that 6-7 tremors were also recorded in Azerbaijan's Barda and Tartar districts.

However, the tremors were not felt, he noted, adding that the seismological situation in other parts of Azerbaijan is stable.

A 5.7 magnitude earthquake hit Aghdam district Nov. 15 at 11.48 p.m. (GMT +4). The earthquake occurred at depth of 25 km.

Another earthquake measuring magnitude 3 in the epicenter was recorded Nov. 16 at 02:02 a.m. in Azerbaijan's Barda district. The earthquake occurred at depth of 25 km. The earthquake was felt in surrounding areas.
