New metallurgical plant launched in Tajikistan

A metallurgical plant of a Tajik-Chinese mining company was commissioned in the city of Istiqlol, Sughd Region, Tajikistan.

The facility worth $57 million was commissioned during the visit of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon.

The capacity of the metallurgical plant, construction of which began in April 2014, will be 50,000 tons of lead per year.

The plant provides 600 people with permanent jobs, and once its second phase is commissioned this number will increase.

Extraction and production of lead powder, zinc and copper will be carried out at the Zarnisor plant located in the city of Guliston, Sughd Region, thereby the new plant will produce the final products.

Lead production at the facility will mainly be carried out using coal, gas and diesel fuel.
