UAE- Fewa to stop paper bills by year end

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Federal Electricity and Water Authority (Fewa) has decided to issue electronic bills to its customers by the end of 2017.

Mohammed Saleh, director general of Fewa, said: "All Fewa customers will be issued electronic bills by the end of 2017 to ease payment of monthly bills via a variety of e-channels. We have already started issuing e-bills from this September."

Fewa has urged all its subscribed customers to cooperate and update their details before the end of the year in order to receive bills through emails.

Saleh added that the promising scheme will help preserve the environment and reduce carbon emissions. "Customers need to be aware and update their personal details to get the monthly e-bill on time. The customers will be able to know their monthly and annual consumption of water and electricity besides their individual carbon emissions."

He also pointed out that the campaign will be implemented in stages; the first of which was initiated in Fujairah and Dibba in September and will last for three months.

As many as 49,423 customers are targeted at this stage, he added. "The second phase targets the 271,825 customers in Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, and Al Dhaid."

Saleh said that Fewa has already opened several channels to pay bills and "customers can pay bills at 700 kiosk machines all over the country besides Al Ansari and Al Firdan exchanges.

"Payment can also be made via the Fewa smart app, website, e-dirham, and by mail at any of the Emirates Post offices," Saleh added.
