(MENAFN) After the recent scandal, Japanese Nissan Motor Co. has lost its ISO 9001 certificates on quality management for its national production.
A Japanese ISO certification agency annulled the ISO 9001 certificates for Nissan's six local plants on Oct. 31 after on-site inspections when the automaker's misconduct was exposed, while factories of foreign market production have kept their ISO certificates.
The ISO certificates issued by independent agencies are in general presumed as a guarantee of quality control.
An on-site inspection by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism on Sept. 18 found that the company had "assistant inspectors" rather than certified inspectors for the safety checks.
