UAE- 55% traffic fine discount in RAK extended to December 2

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Did you miss the opportunity to avail the on all types of traffic fines? It's not too late.

The Ras Al Khaimah Police have extended the discount period toDecember 2, following repeated requests from the public.

Earlier, the discount was effective from November 1 to 15.

The period has fortunately been extended for 17 more days, according to a top police officer.
Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, commander-in-chief of the RAK Police, said the extension was meant to mark the UAE's 46th National Day.

"The discount on all types of traffic fines, including vehicle impoundment, was initially launched to mark the 7th anniversary of the Ascension Day of HH Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah."

"The 55 per cent discount can only be availed through payment on the smart app of the UAE ministry of interior."

The fines - involving vehicle impoundment - can only be paid at the traffic and licensing centres and police stations in all areas of the emirate, he explained.

"The 55 per cent discount is not only the biggest ever in the emirate, but also the first-of-its-kind here," he pointed out.

The reduction decision is in line with the RAK police initiatives to bring happiness to customers, and urge them to observe traffic rules and regulations, he said. "The move will reduce financial burdens on all members of the society."

Official records show that the fixed and portable radars on the roads of the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah have detected up to 219,746 speeding drivers in the first nine months of this year.
The speeding cameras are meant to curb reckless drivers and boost safety on the roads of the emirate, Maj-Gen Al Nuaimi said. "These fixed and portable radars also help reduce traffic accidents and their casualties."
