Uzbekistan and Russia are working out options for opening new branches of the country's universities in Uzbekistan, Russian Ambassador to Uzbekistan Vladimir Tyurdenev said.

He made the remarks in Tashkent during an international conference titled 'Training and development of national personnel in international companies.'

The ambassador noted that presently, there are branches of three leading Russian universities in Tashkent city - Lomonosov Moscow State University, Plekhanov Russian University of Economics and Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas.

The latter is the co-organizer of the conference and celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, the ambassador added.

Young people of Uzbekistan receive Russian education in these branches, he stressed. More than 24,000 Uzbek citizens study in Russia, he said.

'The interaction of Russia and Uzbekistan in the sphere of education is developing dynamically and is one of the priority areas of bilateral humanitarian cooperation,' said Tyurdenev.
