Rohan stars as UAE win again to clinch series

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The UAE completed a clean sweep against Zimbabwe A in their three-match 50-over series when they defeated the visitors by 25 runs on Monday in a day-night match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

The home team skipper Rohan Mustafa once again played a key role in UAE's victory. The left-handed opener scored 46 runs from 62 balls and reached the ropes six times. However, the UAE lost two wickets at the score of 91.

First Brandon Mavuta accounted for the UAE wicket keeper Ghulam Shabbir and then Rohan Mustafa was caught by wicketkeeper Peter Moore off leg-spinner Timcyen Maruma's bowling and the hosts were three down without a run being added to the UAE score of 91 at that stage.

The fourth wicket fell soon when Rameez Shahzad was caught short of his crease as four wickets were down for 104.

However, three small partnerships L. Sreekumar (35, 73 balls, one 4) had with Adnan Mufti (24, 38 balls, one 4) and former skipper Amjad Javed, who played a breezy knock of 39 off 26 balls. He hit one four and four sixes as he tore apart the Zimbabwean bowlers in his unbeaten knock.

The UAE eventually managed 214 for 8 in 50 overs on a wicket that looked difficult to bat on.

Three Zimbabwean batsmen managed to score in 30s but none could build a longer innings while chasing 215 for victory.

The UAE seamer Zahoor Khan claimed three wickets at the cost of 40 runs to derail the visitors's chase as they folded out for 189. Mohammed Qasim, Ahmed Raza and Amjad Javed bagged two wickets each.
