Jordan- FM highlights importance of Japan's role in the region


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Nov. 14 (Petra)-Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi highlighted the strong ties of friendship and partnership between Jordan and Japan that are progressively developing in various domains.

During a meeting with Kintaro Sonora, the National Security Advisor to the Japanese Prime Minister, Safadi stressed the importance of Japan's role in the region as well as Jordan's support to this positive role, especially with the regard to the Middle East peace process.

Safadi spoke about the "Corridor for Peace and Prosperity" initiative that was launched by Japan 10 years ago, which aims to support peace efforts in the region. He affirmed Jordan's support to this initiative within political efforts designed to reach a just and permanent solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of the two-state solution, international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

The foreign minister praised cooperation between Jordan and Japan in the economic, military and security fields, affirming the need to continue cooperation and coordination between the two countries, mainly in the fight against terrorism.

The Japanese official praised the role of His Majesty King Abdullah II in establishing security and stability in the region.
