Dubai Municipality: no impact of earthquake in UAE


(MENAFN) Following the catastrophic earthquake that hit Iran-Iraq border on Sunday in which left over 300 deaths and around four thousands injuries, Dubai Municipality has clarified that there has not been any impact in Dubai of the earthquake.

The quake which had a magnitude of 7.3 on the Richter scale, caused an average level of destruction, death and injury of many victims, however, it did not impact the UAE in any way as some residents felt a slight of a tremor in some areas in Dubai.

Eng. Mohammed Mashroom, Director of Survey Department in the Municipality said, "With the epicenter of the earthquake being 1,378 km away from the Emirate of Dubai, the quake was felt only by high-altitude residents and tall towers where some individuals felt a slight vibration that had no effect on individuals and buildings".

The Municipality has recently launched four smart systems to monitor the impact of earthquakes.
