Azerbaijan sees 20pct growth in tourist flow

The number of tourists visiting Azerbaijan increased by 20.1 percent during the 10 months of 2017, amounting to 2,276,604 people, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism reported.

Most tourists came from Russia (727,577), followed by Georgia (439,305), Iran (320,904) , Turkey (249,210), the UAE (81,742), Iraq (54 242), Ukraine (49 809) and Saudi Arabia (31 821).

The remaining 321,994 people are citizens of other countries. Most foreigners came in July (313,515).

This year, the huge number of tourists come from Iran, the United Arab Emirates and Russia. So, this year 115 782 more people came from Iran, from the United Arab Emirates - 42 811 people and from Russia - 96 040 more than last year.

During the ten months in 2016 the number of tourists who came to Azerbaijan was 1 894 707 people.
