Italy sends 12 tons of relief aid for Iraq's earthquake victims


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ROME, Nov 13 (KUNA) -- Italy said Monday it was sending humanitarian supplies for Iraq to help victims of the earthquake that struck Sulaimaniyah province, killing hundreds of people and injuring many more others in Iraq and Iran.

"We have prepared a shipment of humanitarian aid for the victims of the earthquake that hit Iraq and Iran last night," foreign minister Angelino Alfano said in a statement.

He said an Italian airplane would depart to Sulaimaniyah, Iraq, in the next hours and would carry 12 tons of tens, blankets and other necessary materials for the earthquake victims.

Alfano also said the ministry was also considering financial aid for the victims in Iran. (end) mn.bs
