Bahraini Min. says gas pipeline blast affects slightly output

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MANAMA, Nov 13 (KUNA) -- The gas pipeline blast caused a light loss to the average production, said Bahrain's oil minister and CEO of Oil and Gas Holding Company Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khalifa on Monday.

Production rates of oil and gas returned to their levels registered before the blast that hit the pipeline, he affirmed.

Bahrain News Agency (BNA) quoted the minister as saying that the gas pipeline blast was a "criminal act." The minister stressed that security apparatuses continue investigation in order to uncover circumstances of the incident, the agency said.

Sheikh Mohammad affirmed that the oil and gas company is working closely with competent authorities during investigations, noting that the company managed to contain the blast and reduce any effects on the site of the incident and the surrounding areas.

The statement said the company issued a report, confirming that after a short interruption of supplies for dealing safely with the accident site, supply operations at the refinery were back to normal through the AB1 and AB2 pipelines, which were not damaged.

He noted that oil pumping continued at normal rates as repair operations at the AB3 pipeline reached an advanced stage, expecting that the pipeline will resume operations as usual in the next few days.

On Friday, Bahrain's Interior Ministry announced an explosion took place at the pipeline near the village of Buri without causing any casualties. (end) hmd.hm
