(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Nov. 13 (Petra) -- Jordan on Monday hosted a meeting for the Stability Support Group affiliated with the global coalition to defeat the terrorist Daesh organization, attended by 100 participants from 32 countries.
During the meeting held in coordination with the United Arab Emirates and Germany, Adviser to the Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Nawaf al-Tal emphasized that Jordan will remain at the forefront of countries fighting terrorism.
He said Jordan is hosting the meeting for the second time this year and this sends a clear message that the Kingdom is resolved to defeat Daesh and prop up the successes made in liberated areas.
Al-Tal stressed that military successes should be accompanied by humanitarian, developmental and political efforts. In this context, he said the Kingdom is ready to act as a gateway for Iraq's reconstruction projects, especially in light of the reopening of the Karama/ Treibil border crossing.
Secretary-General of the Iraqi Council of Ministers Dr. Mahdi Al-Alak said his country looks forward for the international community's support to help the Iraqi government press ahead with projects designed to restore stability.
The Government of Iraq is particularly concerned with helping the displaced to return to their homes, remove and clear IEDs and mines and help the youths in liberated areas find jobs, he indicated.
UAE Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for International Development Affairs, Sultan Al Shamsi, highlighted constant coordination between Jordan and the UAE to combat terrorism and extremism, promote stability projects in liberated areas and prevent the return of environments of despair.
Al Shamsi reviewed his country's efforts in supporting stability in areas liberated from the terrorist Da'ash gang. He pointed out that the UAE provided $60 million to the United Nations Development Program to implement projects in the liberated areas in Iraq.
German Ambassador Eckhard Bruce said that as the geographical presence of Daesh in Iraq is coming to an end, civilian, security and humanitarian efforts must be made. He stressed the importance of facilitating the return of the displaced to their cities liberated from the grip of the terrorist organization.
