Doha: Qatar Equestrian Federation (QEF) is preparing to organise Qatar and Al Rayyan International Show Jumping Championships at the QEF outdoor arena in Al Rayyan, with prizes reaching up to QR1.7m.
The two competitions are classified under the four stars category under the supervision of the International Federation for Equestrian Sports, and is among the rounds of the Arab League qualifying for the next World Cup.
The Qatar International Championship will be held on from November 16 to 18, followed by the Al Rayyan Championship which will be held from November 23 to 25.
The Qatari team has been preparing very well for this tournament in order to achieve the best results, especially after its long training in the outdoor camp in Europe.
Qatar successfully hosted the final round of the Longines Global Champions Tour, which concluded two days ago at Al Shaqab, which hosted the final round of the tournament over three days with the participation of the world's best riders. Qatar's Bassem Hassan Mohammed won the first place in the competition, becoming the first Arab, Gulf and Asian rider to win the biggest prize in the championship's history.
QEF Secretary-General Badr Mohammed Al Darwish said that the two international championships will witness the participation of the best riders in the region, adding that the Federation has prepared well to make these two championship competitions a success.
Al Darwish noted that the popular 'Hathab equestrian series, organised by the QEF in cooperation with Al Shaqab, will continue during the two international tournaments by holding the fourth and fifth rounds.
Hathab is an initiative of President of the Qatar Olympic Committee HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani. It is aimed at improving the standard of horse riding among Qatari youths while encouraging the involvement of private stables and individual horse owners to grow awareness of horsemanship as part of Qatars history and tradition.
